In my previous post, I shared my internal conflict of whether to attend Thanksgiving with family members. I caved and ventured to my family home to be with my mom and aunt mostly because I wanted to break up their monotony. Honestly, I could have been projecting my own feeling of boredom! The risk was worth it to me: according to the CDC, “social isolation is associated with about a 50% increased risk of dementia and other serious medical conditions.” During this year, I may not be able to prevent The Covid from wrecking havoc but I can be the entertainment that my mom desperately needs.
