Top 2026 Bay Area Design Trends

When a design trend is new, it always seems like we'll love it forever. But you might have noticed the stark lines and cool greys of the 2010s have started giving way to cozier, more richly textured vibes.

We checked in with designer Robyn Mironov to see what we'll be seeing in the chicest residences this year.

Here are her top 5 picks:

1. Lived in spaces. No more perfect and stark rooms, we are now aiming for spaces that are lived in and collected over time, from travels, from experiences, etc.

2. Colorful palettes. Greys and whites are great for certain places but in general we are going for richer, deeper colors that feel warm and inviting and give a sense of the person who lives their style and preferences (if you like red, go for red! no need to adhere to a certain standard)

3. Architectural detailing. Wainscotting, picture molding, wood details are all being restored in old buildings and added for character and visual interest in new builds as well.

4. Patterns are back! And no need to stick to one, patterns can be used together in textiles, wallpapers, accessories, flooring. English cottage revival is back in many ways, and we are excited about this one!

5. Mixed metals and non-standard finishes. We aren't worried about everything being matchy-matchy. We want to see aged bronze or unlacquered finishes that patina over time and show character and a lived-in feel (are you seeing a pattern yet, wink wink)

Bonus - We are loving heavy veining in our stone choices for kitchen and bathrooms (and even accessories like vases and trays) with lots of movement and warmth. Let's go dramatic!
