Best of SF: Kantine is My Favorite Food Stop on Broker Tour

Writings about residential real estate, San Francisco, and all things home, by Lisa Auer, J. D. and Kindred SF Homes Associate

Tuesday is Broker Tour day in San Francisco when Realtors buzz around the city previewing as many new listings as possible–it’s like speed dating meets open houses. On a busy Tuesday, it’s easy to get in my steps for the day (lots of stairs!) and build up an appetite, so knowing a convenient place to grab a quick meal or snack is key.

My favorite food stop on Broker Tour is Kantine (on Market St near Laguna). It’s one of the best bakeries in San Francisco, and an ideal pitstop for a number of reasons, starting with the delicious pastries, sandwiches, and other Scandinavian-inspired treats.

Kantine also works perfectly in terms of both geography and timing. Broker Tour is organized in two-hour time blocks by real estate district. I usually start the morning looking at listings in the northwest part of the city (Marina, Cow Hollow, Richmond District, etc.) and end up later in the afternoon in the Mission or Bernal Heights. Listings in the central part of the city (NOPA, Duboce Triangle, Hayes Valley, Mission Dolores, etc.) are scheduled in the midday time slots, making it easy to swing by Kantine to refuel. I could go for a cardamom morning bun right now!
