There’s a tendency – even among San Francisco natives – to blend the Sunset and the Parkside districts together as one large section of land comprising the southwest quadrant of the city. The birds-eye map view appears as a grid, but appearances can be deceiving!

Parkside is contoured, textured and filled with west-coast light, fresh ocean breezes and friendly residents. It’s beloved by legions, and ready to be discovered by many lucky would-be homeowners. Ocean views, hill views, quiet streets, verdant backyards, convenient amenities, village shopping enclaves, and access to parks, playgrounds and Ocean Beach make the Parkside a welcoming, never-want-to-leave destination.

Interestingly enough, the “park” in Parkside refers not to Golden Gate Park, but to Pine Lake Park – located at the west end of Stern Grove at the southern border of Parkside. Other parks in the neighborhood include Parkside Square, Concert Meadow, Charlie Sava Pool, Carl Larsen Park, McCoppin Park, McCoppin Square and Hawk Hill Park. Surfers, cyclists, runners, golfers, rowers and fishing aficionados love it here. Dog lovers, too. Additionally, Parkside is near Lake Merced (where you’ll find the boathouses for serious rowing clubs), Harding Park Golf Course (one of the top-ranked municipal courses in the city), Fort Funston (the ultimate in San Francisco for canine off-leash activity), Stonestown YMCA (one of the most popular San Francisco YMCA branches). And don’t forget Lowell High School, Stonestown Mall, St. Ignatius Preparatory, Sunset Community Garden, the Parkside SFPL library branch, Lycee Francais de San Francisco, and the shopping districts lining Irving, Noriega, Judah and Taraval. Parkside is relatively affordable by San Francisco standards but, of course, that means that single-family home prices begin at around $1,000,000. Although Parkside homes can appear to be deceptively plain from the street, visitors must go inside to see the views, the backyard sanctuaries, the transformed interiors.

Our top Realtor team at Kindred SF Homes welcomes you to the Parkside, and we’ll be happy to show you everything for sale in this favorite San Francisco neighborhood, as well as in nearby Merced Manor, Forest Hill, Golden Gate Heights, West Portal, Balboa Terrace, St. Francis Woods, Lakeshore and Sunset. We’ll explore from J (Judah) to W (Wawona) and from 14th to 48th avenues and beyond!
